Day of the Flag

In honor of the centuries-old history of Ukrainian statehood, state symbols of independent Ukraine and in order to foster citizens’ respect for state symbols, the Decree of the President of Ukraine of August 23, 2004 № 987 established the Day of the State Flag of Ukraine, which is celebrated annually on August 23.

In the city of Dnipro, a solemn ceremony of raising the State Flag of Ukraine took place on the square next to the Alley of Heroes.

The ritual was attended by the head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional State Administration, the head of the Dnipropetrovsk garrison – Commander of the Operational Command “East”, representatives of territorial authorities, servicemen, ATO / OOS veterans, youth, volunteers, city residents.

The participants of the action were dressed in blue and yellow colors. The military orchestra performed the National Anthem, representatives of all territorial communities of Dnipropetrovsk region joined the celebration. Also, servicemen took part in actions on the occasion of the Day of the State Flag of Ukraine.

Under the musical accompaniment of the military orchestra of the operational command “East”, the servicemen carried the State Flag of Ukraine. Those present paid tribute to one of the symbols of Ukraine’s statehood. To the sounds of the National Anthem, the national blue and yellow flag was hoisted on a flagpole.
